From the Mail Bag – Ephemera from 7 Letters from the Heart

Our Mail Bag blog posts feature letters and postcards that members send to us at LetterMo to share with the community. You can submit content to the Mail Bag by following the instructions at Mail-In Blog Submissions.

We received a thick envelope from member, 7LettersFromTheHeart, who wrote in to the blog from Poland. Opening the envelope revealed a second envelope covered in golden paint/ink design, pressed with a leaf imprint, and sealed with a wax seal. Inside was a carefully placed letter, a poem by Mary Oliver, a pressed elm leaf affixed to a piece of paper (read the letter for an explanation) and painted with more golden paint/ink (which gleamed in the sunlight), all tied together with a bow. Words hardly do the whole thing justice, so take a look at the pictures below!

Greetings from Poland!

I bet you didn’t expect a letter from that part of the world. More than 5000 miles it traveled!

I love the old fashioned pen to paper communication. (I even created a class on Skillshare about writing letters, but I won’t be self promoting here:)) Writing letters especially in the winter time, is one of a kind experience. But of course you know that!

Love the LetterMo initiative! I enclose a poem that is currently very close to my heart. And a pressed leaf from a field elm tree from which the name of my town comes.

Best of wishes,

7 Letters From the Heart
