Our Mail Bag blog posts feature letters and postcards that members send to us at LetterMo to share with the community. You can submit content to the Mail Bag by following the instructions at Mail-In Submissions.
Our latest mail-in entry to the LetterMo blog comes from @veerlekvk, who writes in from Belgium, sending both a lovely postcard and letter combination.
From the postcard:
Greetings from Belgium (Europe)
The image on the postcard is pulpit in the St. Gudula and St. Michael Church, Brussel (capital).
From the letter:
Hallo Adam.
My name is Veerle. I’m married to Gino and I have three sons. From my oldest son I have two grandchildren: Mila, 10, and Vic, 4.
I live in small Belgium (Europe) in the municipality of Houthulst, not far from Ypres. You might know this from WWI, many Canadian and American soldiers were killed in our region.
I enjoy handicrafts (sewing, knitting, crocheting), crafts, flower arranging, writing letters, also watching sports, especially football.
I can no longer actively participate in sports due to major joint surgery. So I can no longer work and this has been the case for about 20 years. I find this so frustrating, it leaves you with little social contact.
I write in Dutch, English, French, or Deutch. I learned these four languages at school. Belgium is trilingual. The majority speaks Dutch, as I am, then French, and a very small number of people speak Deutch. English is a world language and that’s why we also teach English at school.
Hopefully I don’t make too many mistakes with the vocabulary or sentence structure. But I’m noticing that writing is becoming easier and easier.
Greets,
Veerle
