Every February, thousands of handwritten letters travel around the world because of LetterMo. Participants sign up, find pen pals, dust off their stationery, and enjoy the simple joy of sending and receiving mail. From the outside, it looks smooth and effortless, but behind the scenes, there is a small group of volunteers working steadily to make sure everything stays smooth.
We are approving new members so no one gets stuck waiting.
We are moderating the forum so conversations stay welcoming.
We are answering emails at odd hours, fixing broken links, writing blog posts, scheduling social media, updating spreadsheets, and helping participants find their way around.
We are doing all of this while juggling full-time jobs, families, time zones, chronic illnesses, and everything else life brings.
LetterMo exists because of volunteers. And it continues only because people keep stepping up to help.

The Truth: We’re At It All Year
Most people see LetterMo as a February project — but the work doesn’t start and end on the 1st and 29th. The preparation begins months earlier, and the support continues long after. New members still join, questions still come in, the forum still needs moderation, and the website still needs content and updates.
Our volunteer team is dedicated and hardworking, but small. To keep LetterMo sustainable and to keep the experience smooth for participants, we rely on new volunteers joining us throughout the year, not just right before February.
You can get to know our volunteers here; they are super friendly, and don’t bite (most of the time)!
If You’ve Ever Thought About Helping, This Is a Good Time to Start
Volunteering with LetterMo doesn’t require special experience, just reliability, kindness, and a willingness to learn. We’ll help you get started, and we’ll give you the support you need along the way.
We love what we do to keep LetterMo running! We are at this year-round just to ensure the site is always available, helping participants find their lost penpal’s account, or figuring out why some people have emojis in their biographies and some people can’t add emojis to their biographies.
We’re always looking for more help, whether it be occasional, seasonal, or year-round. We’ve got a few positions that are currently open for applications. You’ll find below in the dropdown boxes all the details for each position, their application process, and finally, the application form. We look forward to receiving your application soon!
Now, don’t forget to apply! Please note that the application form is only accessible to logged-in users.
