Do you prefer writing letters in the morning or evening, and why?

Evening. I used to sleep till 12PM, have a breakfast, play with two dogs, and start my day. I’ll start my first job on 12 Feb, and will still write in evening.

Evening so I do not hurry up – Leila F

On weekdays I prefer the evening, and on weekends the morning. I like to take my time and enjoy the process of choosing pen/ink/stationery and writing, so I prefer a time when I feel the least rushed.

My schedule is weird so whenever I have time. – Fly46

I prefer writing in the evening, usually workdays after I finish work. I gather all my writing materials and then make a cup of tea and just spend the next couple of hours writing and scribbling on some nice paper. It helps me unwind and disconnect from the day to day work responsibilities and also I feel I am most productive at that time of the day.

Morning – I’m much more awake then.

I don’t have a routine time when I write letters, though I think it would help me. I’ve only written 2 so far this LetterMo, because my brain likes routine, and carved out space in my day for it. I am up super early compared to my husband, so I think I’ll try incorporating it in my mornings routine, but set out my supplies the night before.

  1. I vary. More typically I’d be going out in the morning or doing housework. Often I’ll have an early night and take a letter to write, but then find I’m too tired!
Perhaps I write more in the afternoon/early evening. Rarely take the post out then, but wait til going out the next day.
Actually today thinking I might write this morning, but more likely after lunch…
Interesting to hear how others do it.

  2. Weekdays during the evening–working woman, so my free time is after my work day is done. Weekends–I prefer in the morning. But if I don’t have time carved out then nothing happens.
