Welcome to the 15th year of Month of Letters! Whether you have participated since the start of a Month Of Letters in 2011, or are brand new to the challenge, we are glad to have you join us for 2025 LetterMo. LetterMo is just one month away, and we encourage you to take a moment to prepare, so you are ready to go on February 1.
Here are some of the things you can start on now.
Update your LetterMo profile
- Sign up/in. Is it your first time here? Register for a LetterMo account. Have you participated in LetterMo in previous years? Sign in using your previous username and password.
- Edit your profile. Once you are registered and signed in, check out My Profile tab to update your biographical information and mailing address. You can tag your hobbies and writing habits, tools, and materials. LetterMo participants can search profile information to find other participants with similar lifestyles and interests. Are you interested in something like fountain pens? Add that to your profile so other fountain pen lovers can find and connect with you.
- Set your Accepts New Penpals preference on your profile page. This helps others determine if they can reach out to you through a friend request.
- Add friends. Check out the My Friends tab to search for and add other LetterMo participants as friends. The LetterMo friend request system works like most other social websites; once you add someone, they have to approve your request.
- Stop by the Forums: Check out the Forums tab to introduce yourself, find friends to write to in February 2025, and ask questions about the Challenge.
Gather your letter writing materials
- Visit the Resources page to download the 2025 trackers, calendar, and reasons to write.
- Update your address book to include any new penpals and any changes of address from previous years.
- Consolidate any letters you have in your “to reply” pile from last year in one place
- Make sure you have your favorite letter writing supplies on hand: e.g. stationary, postcards, envelopes, pens, ink, colored pencils, stickers, inserts.
- Don’t forget postage stamps!
Check back for updates
As we get closer to February we’ll be adding more exciting content and opportunities to participate in some of the LetterMo “extra-curricular” activities. Check back for more information about:
- Collaborative blog posts: We’ll post questions, and share your responses in a scheduled post
- LetterMo Membership Cards: This year we will be introducing official LetterMo Membership cards. The one-time fee will help fund the site through another year.
- Ways to contribute, from monetary donations to volunteering time and expertise, we rely on our community to keep the LetterMo challenge going.
- Downloads: If we are able to generate new files to download, we’ll post about them here.
Sounds great!!!
I love the idea of the membership cards and contributing to the cost of maintaining LetterMo.
