We received a three-part postcard submission to the blog from Diana (secondhandrose), coming to us from Australia! The deliciously coloured postcards feature absolutely mouth-watering Australian treats on the front, and wonderful stories of a life-long friendships formed through the mail as well as meaningful mail missions on the back. When I decided to send this postcard by Melbourne artist Christine Wang I thought ‘heck, I’ll send all three in the set so you can know the glory of Australian food.’ I think most of the world knows about Vegemite (I love it!) and TimTams (I don’t love them!) but we have some other unique foods and treats. -Diana

I got my first penfriend in 1973-grade 4. 50 years later we are still in contact. In 2014 I went to New Zealand and we met in real life for the first time. That was one of the happiest days of my life. We have grown up together through the post. When I went to New Zealand my penfriend showed me all the mailboxes my mail had been delivered to. -Diana

I’ve done Lettermo a few times and also joined Postcrossing in 2018. Late last year (2023) I took up a new mail task – writing cards of support to military and medical personnel in Ukraine. These cards take a while as I write in Cyrillic (thank you Google Translate!) and English. Even though we know we will never receive a response, I find this project very rewarding. -Diana
