Mail Blogs

While working on a LetterMo blog post in 2024, I went off on a thought tangent (as I often do when it comes to all things epistolary). The LetterMo blog exists to update our membership on all things LetterMo. We sometimes feature guest writers and their passions, as well as the beautiful mail-in submissions we receive from LetterMoians.

I posted in the Postcrossing forums (another mail community I frequent), querying about what other mail blogs were out there. Listed below are some of the responses I got, as well as some other blogs we follow. Some blogs are maintained by individuals, while others are a collective effort from a letter writing society or mail mission.

  1. Postcrossing has its own blog about “the Postcrossing community and the postal world.” The blog has monthly writing prompts, posts book reviews, and even features an annual design contest for World Postcard Day (October 1).
  2. Dear… is a blog maintained by the Arizona Correspondence Society. The blog is dedicated to sharing interesting postal history, information about upcoming events, and tips for analog communication.
  3. Letter Writers Society Blog is updated by LWS founder, Sonia Jean Kemmer, and features mail art, travel mail stories, and membership contests.
  4. Post Spots comes from Postcrosser C. Hart, who interviews artists and designers who create postal stamps from all around the world.
  5. Courrier du Monde is a French blog (translation available) about unique postcards, postage, and their stories.
  6. Pushing the Envelopes is a mail art and envelopes blog. Blogger Jean Wilson makes daily posts about beautifully decorated envelopes and insights into the art of correspondence.
  7. Segells Inusuals (or “Unusual Stamps”) is a Catalan blog that features unique stamps from around the world. Some entries contain written facts, while others are a simple and stunning visual.
  8. Native American Postcards is updated by blogger MS and is dedicated to Indigenous-themed postcards.
  9. L’Italia in Cartolina (or “Italy in a Postcard”) has a tagline: “in giro per l’Italia, una cartolina alla volta” or “around Italy, one postcard at a time.” A map shows where this blogger has sent cards from.
  10. The Handwritten Letter Appreciation Society Blog has over 90 posts to date about self-titled “adventures in letter writing.”

Which blog are you most excited to check out? What are some other blogs or social media accounts that our readers should know about? Let us know in the comments.

  1. WOW!
Thanks for all those links. I think my favourite is Post Spots with the stamp designer interviews. I have always thought of stamps as ‘little works of art’ and here in Melbourne we used to have a gallery with postage stamp design exhibitions. Sadly it closed some time back. I love to collect beautiful stamps from my Postcrossing cards and I also like to share old or interesting stamps with pen pals who like to do collage or junk journalling.
